Musings

In all my lecture classes (that is to say, all my classes), my professors ramble on for two hours. They talk about only three or four topics or points. I believe that they can effectively teach this same information in a fraction of the time.

Shorter classes would mean that students would be more likely to pay attention because they have to give their attention for a shorter period of time. Also, they would be more likely to ask questions, which leads to a better and more effective learning experience. Professors would therefore be less frustrated by inattentive students.

Shorter classes in the near future? Maybe not. Food for thought? Up to you...

The evil library

For the entire school year, I've been frightened by the library. It's just too quiet and ugly in there! So when Ginger dragged me over there one night and I ended up getting a lot of work done, I was surprised how much I liked it.

Since then (that was at the beginning of the quarter), I've been back several times. I've been three times this week already! Too bad there will be construction this summer and no library next fall quarter :( I guess I'll just have to go back to my other weird, secret study spots... shhh...

Rubik's cube party

Last night ∆Z had an exchange with ZBT and it was Rubik's cube themed. Everyone wore clothing that was a colour of the Rubik's cube and then when they yelled out "SWAP!" you had to switch clothes with people so that you were wearing all one colour. It was really fun and everyone was just dancing around having a good ol' time :)

trying to find the craziest, most colourful outfit ever :)

Hoping for another fun exchange soon!!

When they stop making clothes

So I know that there are children in Africa who don't really have clothes and that I shouldn't be complaining or whatever. But it really pisses me off (pardon my "French") when you buy an item of clothing that is pretty standard - like, say, a pair of jeans or leggings or socks - and they stop making them that way!

Two such examples (and, woah, yeah I went there, I'm whippin' out brand names, people):
1) Arden B.'s "Signature Boot" in size 24
Dayummm these are my favourite jeans ever! They fit me like a glove. Waaaaayy better than any other jeans I've bought. And sure, they were a little pricier, but I have definitely gotten my money's worth of wear out of them.
2) Danskin's "Supplex Legging" style 1562
Warmest leggings I've ever owned! They're perfect under clothing, like ski gear (or jeans when it's really cold out!), or just on their own. And I've tried calling the company to see when they'll be back in stock but no luck :(

If you find either of these items, send them my way!

Snow and life and kiddos and things

A lot is going on today!
Yesterday was literally 85 degrees and right now it is SNOWING. Chyaaa not the same weather. But I'm used to it now hahaha... oh Colorado.

Also yesterday, I did community service at Mount Saint Vincent Home. It is a home/school for children who have mental disabilities, experienced neglect or abuse, or are in foster care. We helped make their playground all pretty and cleaned up the garden for when the kids come out to play in the spring (probably not today). It was really fun and a lot of other DZs were there too so we got to do good things together!

Tonight, Nessie and I are hosting two prospective students overnight. They're gonna stay in our room and hear about all the awesome things about DU!! Wonder how we're gonna fare in this god-awful weather...

Happy Sunday! Can't wait for this bee-a-you-tee-ful month of April to get going! It's had a great start so far :)

Party like it's 1977

As you probably all know, my favourite show in the whole world is That '70s Show. On Thursday, Lambda hosted their annual Mustache Bash. AND IT WAS '70S THEMED! Oh yes, it was mucho awesome :D Me, Ginger, Sorry, and a bunch of other people went and, like, the whole school, too.

NEON POLLUTION

Today is April Fool's Day and so it's a tradition of ski mountain locals to dress really crazily and ski all over the mountain. These are our pictures. I'm sure you get the idea...
