Why Stumble Upon is awesome

If you haven't heard about StumbleUpon.com, you should get your butt over there S.T.A.T!
Why? I shall tell you...

When the internet was created, it was intended to link everyone together in on common, fast, way. Through social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, even blog sites, email, and Google, people have access to more now than ever before. And it's wonderful!
But ask yourself: how much of the internet do you really use? When you open up your web browser, where's the first place you go? What are you really seeing?

With StumbleUpon, you are transported anywhere with one click. And it's all based on the interests you pick out yourself! It takes you to pages you're almost already guaranteed to like, and wouldn't have discovered otherwise. You moderate your account yourself, too, so you can "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" what you like or don't like. It's completely personalized.

So just when you think you aren't getting everything out of your internet, hop on StumbleUpon and wow yourself. It's amazing what's out there.

Second ski weekend in a row

This weekend, my friend Ginger's mom came out to Denver and took us both skiing at Breck. It was the perfect weekend to go! We had fresh powder on both Friday and Sunday, sun on Friday and Saturday, and hot tubbing all three days :)

It was also the first weekend of President's Week, or February break, on the east coast... which I miss... because we don't get that in college...
But hey! it's college, what other kind of vacation do I need ;) (Just kidding, Dad)

Anyway, the skiing was great and I had a fun time with Ginger, her aunt (who also came out) and her mom. We talked about boys and parties and wine - such a girly weekend :)

It feels good to be back with my corner room crew though! (shout out: NESSIE!)

Winter Carnival - day two

Yesterday, I skied another beautiful, sunny day, all day. Went in for lunch to our sweeeeeet suite and had two sandwiches, I was so hungry. Unfortunately, my favourite lifts were closed because there were really high winds at the top. Good thing I got such good skiing in on Friday!! :)

Saturday night was one big party - we went to the hot tub, made a big dinner, played music and froze our butts off!

Can't wait for next year's Winter Carnival!

Winter Carnival - day one

My friend and I arrived at Winter Park Resort at noon today, checked into our awesome room, and... the weekend has begun!

I skied all afternoon, doing ten runs in three hours. The mountain was beautiful - sunny, powder, and not crowded. Couldn't ask for anything better.

Me, Ginger, Sorry, and other girls went food shopping (always fun) for everyone staying in our room. Then we made dinner. They're cleaning up now (I have a stomach ache) and then we're going to the hot tub.

That's it for day one of Winter Carnival! More posts tomorrow and Sunday :)

I'm on OperationBeautiful.com

So sometime last month I found one of those Post-Its in one of the bathrooms in Sturm Hall. It was for Operation Beautiful, which if you don't know what it is, is pretty great. Women write happy, inspiring, un-fat talk messages and post them in public places for other women to see and feel good about themselves. I sent it into the website, and it got posted today!

(you have to scroll down a bit)

If I could write a Post-It, mine would say "SMILE! happy looks good on you"

Questionable...

Should I blog about this? Probably not. I mean, I could get in trouble! And Nessie too!!
But I guess it's still not against the rules unless you get caught.

I'll just post a picture and see if you smarty pants readers can guess what bad things have been going on in room 508 south...

Shhhh... I didn't tell you anything!

In other news, Winter Carnival is this weekend!!!! DU basically takes over Winter Park mountain and there's cheap lift tix and a concert and, ah, so much stuff! Fourteen of my friends and I all got a hotel room to stay in for the weekend - par-tayyy! ;) AND, Denver just got totally dumped on last night. There's like six inches of fresh stuff - that'll make for some nice skiing.

I made this by myself today, keeping busy during our snow day. But me and Smiley (and later, Ginger) figured out that we all want pretty much these same things!!! Call us superficial, but I don't think anyone would be sad to have this stuff when they grow up. And, hey, maybe we're just optimistic college freshmen, but if we want this, we will work hard to get it!

P.S. I sure hope you laughed at this, because we aren't entirely serious....

College snow day!

DU HAS A SNOW DAY TOMORROW!!!
And right in the middle of midterms week! Woohooooo!

I helped my friend Cat move her car from the outside parking lot to one inside because of the snow. It was an adventure, to say the least. All her windows were totally iced over so we had to wait and heat up the car... and remember to use de-icer... before we could go anywhere. And, being as smart as I am, I wore PJ shorts outside in the c o l d .

It was a successful mission! We drove all one hundred feet and tucked her car safely underground. Then we braved the cold, snowy, wind back to Halls.

Tonight is gonna be a hot chocolate night and fuzzy socks night :) . Oh, and "The Bachelor" is on!
