The final finals as a freshman

This is it. Freshman year is wrapping up! Just two essays, and two exams until I can go home.
Right now, a few of us are studying at Panera, typing away.... Hitting up the library later - woo, that's always fun ;)

Hire me!

As much as I love college, I love vacation even more. And as much as I love summer and the beach and doing nothing all day, I need a job this summer.
A real job, too. Like, not babysitting. So I'm online everyday, trying to get hired doing SOMETHING, ANYTHING at home. 2,000 miles away from where I am right now.

SO if you know any jobs that make you think, "Hey, Stephanie would be really good at this!" then pleeeeeeease send them my way!

Sun on the Penrose lawn

This afternoon was so sunny and golden - finally! It rained the majority of this week too... but it's just made everything so greeeeeen :)
So when Sorry, Bolee, and I went to study at the library, we got distracted by the lush grass and sunny sky. We just had to sit down and chill for a few minutes...

It was too bad we had to go inside and study for real :( But it's week ten after all! Finals are next week so it's time to get serious. Only nine days left of freshman year - woah.

Rain, rain, go away.

♫ It's beginning to look a lot like Bronxville. Rain in every ditch. But the prettiest sight to see is the blue sky that will be, after this weather glitch.
(sing to the tune of "It's beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas")

Remember that great big flood Bronxville had back in 2007.... okay, well I'm beginning to think DU is going to flood over any second. It has been raining on and off for the past three days now.

Kinda depressing. Perhaps my wishing for a lot of rain back in March finally came true. In a big, annoying way.

Are you MAN enough?

∆Z's annual philanthropy to support many wonderful organizations, the Starkey Hearing Foundation, Gallaudet University, and the House Ear Institute, was a great success this year. I was on the planning committee for it so it was exciting to see everything come together after weeks of work.

Big Man on Campus is a three-day long event that leads up to the Big Man pageant (last night) where we name the winning fraternity. Basically, it is our version of Derby Days.

It started off with Senior Formal on Friday. Then Turtle Tug on Saturday. Fraternity teams of five guys played tug of war over a pool of Jell-O. The winner (best out of three) was whoever didn't land in the green gelatin. Everyone who got wet (which ended up being pretty much everyone in the end) was extra cold, too, because it was pretty dreary out.

Sunday was Flag Football. This was fun, until one of the ∑X brothers got hurt going in for an amazing touchdown. He's still in intensive care from his accident; all of ∆Z sends warm well wishes to him, his family, and his fraternity.

Monday was the best - it was the pageant after all! And who doesn't like to see some good, friendly, inter-Greek competition?

There were six portions: frat wear, talent, swimsuit, pushups, formal wear, and questions. Six representatives of frats on campus competed for the title of Big Man on Campus. A lot of people showed up to show support of their respective frat, which made the whole evening even more fun. I got to "DJ" the event - I put this in quotes because I am very obviously not a professional and messed up a whole lot. But people liked the songs I played so I think it went okay.

∑X's contestant won the title of Big Man, but everyone won some other smaller titles.

Congrats, Sigma Chi!

Make new friends

"...but keep the old.
One is silver
and the other's gold"

This weekend, Ginger's two best friends from home came to visit. It was exciting because she's talked about them a lot and we finally got to meet! Ginger took them all over the Denver area to explore, but we had some pretty fun times too. Is that a playground, you ask? Yes, indeed it is :)

using chalk despite the rain :)

DU vs. Villanova

Today, DU and Villanova faced off in the first round of the NCAA Lacrosse Championships. This is the farthest that DU Lax has ever gotten and the first time ever this round has been hosted west of Mississippi - it was a really big deal! Not one who usually follows sports, I didn't think I'd be very into the game. But watching other students set up at the grill off/tailgate (and eating some of their food) made me begin to get excited about it!

Sorry and I decided we were going to go watch the game. History was being made, after all! So we showed up... and all the tickets were sold out. We tried to sneak by... and we caught. So we tried to watch from our dorms... the crowds (and trees and ESPN camera people) blocked the view. It seemed as though we would never see the game.

 after being booted
ginger's got school spirit!

LIGHTBULB! What if we went to the fitness center and worked out and got them to play the game on TV? So we headed up to the treadmills... but the fitness center doesn't have ESPN 3. We worked out anyway - yay! - and then headed to a nearby sports bar to eat lunch and watch.

Aaaaaaaaand... VICTORY!!!
Congrats DU Pioneers! We're moving on the next round.

Rho, Rho, Rho Your Boat!

∆Z's annual Senior Formal (our third and final formal of the year) was at the Cherry Creek Marina and Yacht Club this year (hence the boat title). It was such a pretty venue and everyone who went was so pretty and dressed up too! We all met at the house beforehand to take lots of pictures (kinda like prom), then we got on the bus and partied the night away...
My friends and I all had dates, which was fun :) Ginger took her two best friends who came to visit. I took a ∑X sophomore/friend. Sorry took another of two our friends. Smiley took a friend from home. Unicorn took a very fine ∑X senior. And Betty Crocker took her boyfriend.
