Foo fighters!

Last night, me and my suitemate, Betty Crocker, went to see the Foo Fighters in concert! And it was the greatest show ever!!!
We got there just in time to see the second opener, Cage the Elephant, and settle in our scary seats. They were waaaaaay up there. I'd never sat so high up in an arena setting before (the show was at the Pepsi Center) and climbing up to our seats I had a touch of vertigo.
But it was so worth it!!! Of all the (very few) concerts that I've seen, this was one of the most intense, passionate, lively, engaging shows. The band was so into it and the lights were phenomenal. And they sounded so loud and awesome and fun! Pardon all the exclamation points everywhere, but I loved it!!!

We were really lucky to be able to go to this show because I won the tickets and almost sold them away because I didn't have anyone to go with... but then Betty was like, "I really want to go!" so we went together! YAY!

Can't wait for more concerts :)

DISPATCH in concert!!!

So here's the lowdown on the best concert by The Biggest Band You've Never Heard Of (in shorthand, because I can't put sentences together):
-reunion tour (first since 2002), big in the '90s, most popular song is "The General"
-performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, which is this sweet, natural outdoor amphitheatre outside of Denver
-everyone there was about thirty, probably were in high school or college when Dispatch was big
-they sold out three nights in a row at Red Rocks
-the band was so chill, I love their music!
-Sorry and Ginger came along; Smiley missed it 'cause she went home already :(
-here's some pictures!!!!

performing from the middle of the audience - they just appeared!
my ticket :)

It's such a cool venue - like no other place in the world. The band is rockin it because they love where they're performing so the crowd is rockin it, too, and it's just the best concert you've ever been too. Can't wait for MORE concerts at Red Rocks in the future!

Rain, rain, go away.

♫ It's beginning to look a lot like Bronxville. Rain in every ditch. But the prettiest sight to see is the blue sky that will be, after this weather glitch.
(sing to the tune of "It's beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas")

Remember that great big flood Bronxville had back in 2007.... okay, well I'm beginning to think DU is going to flood over any second. It has been raining on and off for the past three days now.

Kinda depressing. Perhaps my wishing for a lot of rain back in March finally came true. In a big, annoying way.

Surf's Up soundtrack

You know that silly DreamWorks animated movie that came out a few years ago when every movie had cute penguins? The one about the surfing penguins? Well, the Bearcat has taken to it recently, so I've watched it a few times. It's sweet, funny, and has Shia LaBoeuf as the main penguin. But best of all is the movie's soundtrack.

From Green Day and Incubus to Sugar Ray and Pearl Jam, got a real surf-rock sound and truly makes a lot of the scenes. So the movie itself is pretty generic... but so what? With memorable song choices, it's something everyone can enjoy :)

My favourite picks:
Into Yesterday, Sugar Ray
You Get What You Give, New Radicals
Reggae Got Soul, 311
Drive, Incubus
Big Wave, Pearl Jam
Welcome to Paradise, Green Day

Lady Antebellum

(or Stephanie goes to a country music concert)

So I'm not sure what possessed me to buy tickets to see Lady Antebellum in concert on Wednesday, but I went with four of my friends, and had a pretty good time. What's strange is that I A: only know one of their songs and B: don't really like country music.

The opener was the dictionary definition of country music, but I enjoyed Lady A a lot more. They have a great live sound, which a lot of bands don't. And they looked like they were just purely enjoying themselves. Their number one song is "Need You Now" and that happens to be my favourite, too.

Most of the audience was middle aged; we were definitely some of the youngest people there. But they were funny and drunk! so we were entertained left and right. One lady had this incredible nest-ish hairstyle that prevented all five of us from seeing the stage and another kept spilling her drink in my shoes...

We sang along and took lots of pictures:

Is living in Denver, being out west, and hanging with Texans changing my music taste??

...we shall see...

The Script comes to Denver

On Tuesday night, three of my friends and I went to see The Script perform at the Ogden Theater downtown!!!! I absolutely love The Script so I was excited to begin with. Even better was that Ginger's grandparents, who live in Ireland, sent her a copy of their new CD that isn't even out in the U.S. yet!!!! We knew all of the songs that they played, even the ones that people stateside can't get! It was like super V.I.P. and I was just beyond ecstatic.

The concert was opened by a small act called Hugo (also from the U.K. I think) who were surprisingly good! They played five little songs; I really like their style. It was rock-y, blues-y, pop/soul-ish plus, the lyrics were witty and memorable, too. (We bought their EP because it was only $3.)

Then, of course, the main act :), The Script!
We were screaming loud when they came out! They started with a song off their new album and then did a mix of new and old songs. And their Irish accents when they were speaking were sooooo intense :D I want to go to Ireland next summer with Julia and hear Irish people all day long....

And as with any concert you attend, you must make the memories last with a band tee. We both picked the same one :P

So as you can see, we had a great time!! I love concerts and this one was surprisingly easy to get to, so hopefully we will go to many more here in Denver...
